Making an appointment

For Counselling and Psychotherapy

You can contact us yourself – you do not need to be referred. You can call us on 01904 430370.

When you call us, we will arrange an initial assessment appointment for you.  This appointment will help you to decide whether or not therapy could be helpful for your situation.

At this assessment appointment the therapist will ask about aspects of your earlier and present life and the reasons that prompted you to make contact. He or she will also ask you about what you expect from therapy, and explain more about the service.

Also at the assessment appointment the therapist will discuss with you the amount that you'll pay for the assessment and weekly sessions that will follow; this amount will relate to your financial circumstances.  You and the therapist will also talk about confidentiality, the arrangements for payment, what happens if sessions are cancelled, as well as the duration of therapy that you may require.

For Consultant Psychiatry or Psychology

We require a letter of referral from your GP or other healthcare professional.  The letter should be sent or faxed together with additional information such as Psychiatric Reports, Social Care Reports and Structured Risk Assessments.

Once a referral is received, we will acknowledge the referral by the end of the next working day.  The referral will be forwarded to the appropriate consultant and an assessment appointment will be arranged.

How much does it cost?

As we provide a wide range of therapies we do not have one fixed price.  During your initial assessment your therapist or consultant will discuss with you the amount you will pay for your on-going sessions.  As a not-for-profit charitable organisation we are sometimes able to offer a degree of flexibility on our standard fees, taking into account personal and financial circumstances.  Arrangements for payment, what happens if sessions are cancelled, as well as the duration of therapy that you may require will also be discussed at your assessment.
