Stressed workers offered “walkout”
Stressed workers are being offered a pulse raising way in which to relieve their woes.
The Tuke Centre, in Green Dykes Lane, York, is running a series of eight-mile walks for people who have worries about work. It is thought the open space of the Yorkshire Dales helps people think about their problems. Chris Powell, head of the Tuke Centre, who will be leading the walks with Andrew Wilson, a local GP, said: "Some of the best ideas emerge while walking and talking in the open air. "This group, which is now in its third year, provides support, development and refreshment for people who need space to think about their work. "We talk about whatever is concerning people in their working lives and whatever else emerges under the open skies of Yorkshire." The Tuke Centre offers a psychotherapy and counselling service and is part of The Retreat, a mental health unit that works with the NHS to provide care for people with complex needs.
The walking group meets four times during the year. It is suitable for anyone in reasonable health who can commit themselves to all four walks. Anyone interested should phone the Tuke Centre on 01904 430370 or email info@thetukecentre.org.uk
