About Dr Liz Lawson
I am a Counselling Psychologist and Clinical Lead for the Eating Disorder service. Following completion of my doctorate at Teesside University, I completed intensive training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and a post-graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In addition to leading the Eating Disorder service, I offer therapy in the Tuke Centre’s Personality Disorder and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) services.
I am committed to working integratively and draw on a range of therapies to support individuals to improve the quality of their lives. Although my practice is evidence-based, I am very much guided by the individual’s understanding of their difficulties and their goals for therapy rather than treating a diagnosis.
I am a guest lecturer on several doctoral psychology courses providing teaching on CBT, DBT and Eating Disorders, and am trained to offer supervision to Clinical and Counselling Psychologists.
